Executive Director

Michelle Stevenson

I have been working in the healthcare field for over 25 years. I started my career in long term care as a social worker in the San Francisco area. My experience includes hospital trauma center, community case management, hospice, long term acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, behavioral facilities and assisted living. I love that I can continue to work closely with our families and residents in my current role as Executive Director at The Gardens of Sun City. Our community is an extension of our family and we strive to make a difference every day.

Business Office Manager

Bobbi Martinez

My name is Bobbi Martinez, and I have over 25 years of experience in healthcare. I began my career as a CNA and HHA, working in a California hospital for 16 years. Afterward, I moved to Las Vegas, where I worked as a BOM at a rehab center. When that company was sold, I transitioned into assisted living for a few years. Later, I moved to Oregon and served as an ED for four years before relocating to Arizona, where I have been working as a BOM for the past two years. I’m proud to have 3 children, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandbabies. In my free time, I love spending quality time with them and watching them grow.

I been working at The Gardens of Sun City for 20 years. I started my career as a Caregiver and Medtech on our Memory Care unit. I loved working with our memory care residents. After 8 years on our Memory Care unit, I moved to activities as an Activity Assistant and then Activity Director. I love working with our residents and making their retirement more enjoyable.

Environmental Services Director

Sean Wendt

In 2016 I began my maintenance career in a mall as a custodian, eventually working my way up to Director of Maintenance. I am proudly self-taught, and once had my own handyman business. Since then, I moved on to a skilled nursing facility. There I got to work alongside and develop relationships with the patients and residents. That level of care for my work meant more to me than my start at a mall, because I was dealing with the residents’ homes and livelihood. I then started at Gardens of Sun City in December of 2024, where I continue to bring that same level of care to my work.

Resident Care Director

Angela Thorne, LPN

I have been a nurse for several years; I have been in different roles from LTC to travel nursing. Being a nurse is my greatest passion and I absolutely love my job and the people it brings me. October of 2024, I decided to return to the administrative side of nursing from bedside. My heart is in helping to grow a wonderful team to care for our most vulnerable. I love educating staff and this role allows me to have the time to get to know staff and residents on a personal level. The staff at the Gardens really care about their residents and it shows. I love coming to work every day, because I know that I will get to see people making a change in others’ lives and that warms my heart. This community and the staff are a great example of what senior living should be. Everyone working together to create an environment that staff and resident alike thrive in. It is an honor to work here.

Dietary Services Director

Roger Wenz

After working in corporate restaurants for 30 years, I moved to the hotel/bar side of the hospitality industry for some time before opening my own catering business. I’ve had the pleasure of serving seniors for 5 years now. The most rewarding part of senior living is being able to create food that brings back memories for them and seeing their smiles after providing them with a meal they enjoyed. Being able to discuss how they used to prepare meals or specific items truly inspires me to continue to strive to give them the very best on a daily basis. Working at The Gardens of Sun City has been an amazing experience. The staff and management team here truly care about others and it gives The Gardens a warm and homelike feeling for our residents.

I started my career working in the hospitality industry. I then had the pleasure of caring for my father, who was a Vietnam veteran. He is the reason I jumped into the senior living industry. I started 10 years ago as a Sales Manager for a senior living in Prescott, AZ. From there I decided that I wanted to expand my knowledge in working with seniors, and became a Marketing Director for a hospice organization in Maricopa County. I started working as the CRD at The Gardens of Sun City in late 2021. I love everything about this community; my coworkers, residents, and families. I have learned that this isn’t a job, it’s my calling. Everyday my cup is filled with love and respect for everyone that comes through our doors. I am so very thankful that I was given the opportunity to work at The Gardens and every day I am blessed to be around such amazing people.
